Floating Power Plant A/S (FPP) was established in 2004. The goal of the company is to commercialise positive results from the development of floating power plants based on wave and wind energy. FPP owns and holds the rights to develop end build the floating power plant named Poseidon.

The concept of Poseidon was established back in 1980. In 1996 the development process was speeded up and the concept has during the last decade undergone tests in scales of 8 and 17 metres concurrently with great focus on the engineering design. This has lead to the most promising wave energy concept in present time.

In the spring of 2007 FPP began the construction of a 37 metre test- and demonstration plant to operate at open sea. The plant named Poseidon 37 was launched in August 2008 at Lolland in the southern Denmark. Apart from test results this will provide potential investors with the possibility to visit the running power stations to support any potential decision to enter as an investor in the next phase; design and construction of full scale electricity-producing floating power plants.
